2019 Goals: Spring Progress

Hello friends!

Can you believe we’re already halfway through 2019?!  It’s completely mindboggling to me; plus, I’m thinking I really need to get my butt in gear if I want to complete all my goals for the year!

2019 Goals: Spring Progress - A Midwest Belle

Start a YouTube Channel:

So I haven’t actually started my YouTube channel yet, but I’ve finally decided to just go for it and see what happens. I filmed a quick video today as practice for being on camera, and I imagine that July might be the first time I actually upload something!  Especially due to a big thing happening that you will find out about further in the post. 😉

Plan a Vacation:

So, after a lot of discussion and consideration, I’m thinking that the big vacation I had wanted to do next year might not happen; there’s just too much going on and too much money being spent already. However, I think we will hopefully do something local and fun as a sort of stay-cation instead!

Products Used Up:

My Recent Beauty Empties post just went up on Monday, so if you want to know more about what I’ve finished, you should check it out!  To be on track with using up 65 products throughout the year, I need to have at least 33 empties. I’m currently at 46!  I think I’ll have no problem using up the original 65, so I may up my goal to 125, which is my Ipsy and Boxycharm since I’m now subscribed to that as well!

Publish 50 Blog Posts:

My original goal was to publish 50 blog posts, and I have completely knocked it out of the park!  I’m at 44 as of June 30, which means that by the end of July I will have completed my initial goal and every blog post from then on is basically a bonus.

GoodReads Award Winner Books Read:

Of all my book goals, this is the one that I’ve been best at keeping up with. In order to be on track, I need to have read at least 7 of the 14 I wanted to, and I’m currently at 7.  I’m making a big push this coming month to get a lot of these read, so hopefully I’ll have a lot more progress to share in the next update!

  1. Children of Blood and Bone
  2. The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One
  3. The Rise & Fall of the Dinosaurs

19 in 2019 Books Read:

In order to be on track with my 19 in 2019 books, I need to have read at least 10 – and I’ve now read 2.  Obviously I’m not doing great at this goal!  It’s not that I don’t want to read them – it’s just that I’ve been busy which means reading gets pushed off, plus I want to get the library books finished before I worry about the ones on my shelf!

  1. Sharp Objects
  2. Frankenstein

Read 50 Books:

This year I wanted to read a total of 50 books, which does include the books in the other two goals listed above.  In order to be on track, I need to have read 25; right now I’m at 12.  Yikes! Definitely not even close.  I do have a lot of short books I want to knock out, so hopefully that’ll boost my count at least a little bit.

Books in bold are ones that are not also a part of the 19 in 2019 or GoodReads Award Winners goals!

  1. Children of Blood and Bone
  2. Sharp Objects
  3. Frankenstein
  4. Rich Dad Poor Dad
  5. The Witch Doesn’t Burn in This One
  6. The Rise & Fall of the Dinosaurs

*Pay off My Student Loans:

I am so excited to say that my first major goal of the year has been completed!  I completely paid off my loans on April 15, which means that I get to work towards goal #2, buying a new car!  There will be no more updates on this one, but I’m just ecstatic to not have to worry about this debt anymore!

Spend More Time Experiencing Things:

One of the goals I had for this year was to make sure that I was spending time outside of my apartment and just doing things!  Now that it’s getting warmer, I can finally feel like I can get out without freezing – plus, there’s usually just more to do in general.

Horseback Riding: I’ve always enjoyed riding horses, but had to take a pause on it when I went to college and then moved. Well, I’m happy to say that I found a stable and I’m back to riding!  This will get me out of the house at least once a week, plus it’s just something I can look forward to.

I’ve found a horse that I really love riding, and she’s such a sweetie! I can’t wait to continue learning and growing with her.  She’s also my trainer’s horse, which makes it especially cool in my opinion.

Coffee & Donut Festival: On May 4th there was a Coffee and Donut Festival that I went to with Kory & my friend!  It wasn’t the best event, but it was still fun to go to, plus we got “free” mugs, and who doesn’t need more mugs?

New House: So this doesn’t really count as getting out and doing stuff, but Kory and I got a house!  It’s such an exciting step in my life of adulthood, so I thought it would be something good to share!  I’m really going to try to vlog at least a little bit and upload it to YouTube to help jumpstart that goal, so look out for it maybe?

*Get a New Car:

You guys!  After paying off my student loans I’ve been saving for a while, and I can how happily say I’m the owner of an amazing new Jeep!  I’ve never had such a nice vehicle, and I did everything for it – researched, drove, negotiated, paid the down payment, signed papers, blah blah.  I am so proud of myself – it’s a big step!  I have a picture of it on my Instagram if you’d like to see the new ride I’m sporting!

And with my new car purchased, that’s another huge goal off of my list for the year!  There are definitely some goals that I’m doing better in than others, but I’m so happy with a lot of the progress I’m making. I didn’t share everything, but know that I’m expecting some really big changes for the better, and I only plan on growing from here on out!

How are your yearly goals going?
