Wet n’ Wild Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick “Rebel Rose” | Review

Hello friends!

I apologize for my long absence! I think we can all agree in saying 2020 was a year of… well, who knows exactly what it was. That being said, I’m ready to move into the new year and get back into reviewing my vast amount of makeup starting with this product!

Color: Rebel Rose is a cool-toned pink nude. It’s the same depth as a traditional rose color, but with very purple undertones.

Finish: This liquid lipstick dries down to a completely matte finish.

Packaging: The packaging is a short, clear acrylic tube with a shiny black cap. The label is a sticker. If you’ve seen my review of the shiny version of this liquid lipstick they came out with, it’s identical, but with a different colored top!

Applicator: The applicator is one of the chair shaped ones, with a dip in the center that both holds product and creates an ease of application through better fitting the shape of the lips. I find these applicators to be easier to use than a traditional flat doefoot.

Application: Application was pretty easy for me! With the shape of the applicator, it was easy to cover one of my lips in the product without needing to do any cleanup afterwards due to going outside of the lines. I did need to dip back into the tube to get enough product to cover my top lip as well.

Transfer: Aside from the typical small bit of excess product that comes off at first, I found that the transfer of this lipstick was practically nonexistent. I didn’t see anything come off on my straw while drinking and nothing on my food or silverware while eating.

Fading: There was minimal to no fading that I noticed. Granted, this color is pretty close to my own natural lips, so there’s a chance I just didn’t see it like I would with another color. Still, after 8 hours I felt like my lipstick still looked good!

I did notice that the lipstick seemed to emphasize lines in my lips a bit, so if you’re like me and have pretty textured lips, exfoliate beforehand! If it’s something that really bothers you, I’d suggest skipping over this formula.

Comfort: As with the majority of matte liquid lipsticks, there is a slight bit of discomfort after 8 hours of wearing this. For the first eight, I barely noticed I had anything on my lips. Around the 9-10 hour mark, I was feeling like my lips were tight and I wanted the product to come off. This isn’t unique to this particular formula – I feel that way with most matte liquid lipsticks (I never prep my lips quite right!). If you were to ensure they were moisturized before putting on the lipstick (but being sure to remove the balm beforehand to not affect wear time), and exfoliated, I imagine you’d be able to comfortably go 12+ hours, as wear isn’t the concern.

Overall: I really enjoy this lipstick! The color is very me – I’m always up for a cool toned nudey pink since warm tones pull orange on me. The formula is great for those days you need something to last, without even considering the price in that. Add that you can get it for incredibly cheap, and this is a formula that I’ll be returning to for different colors as well.

Price Point: Wet n Wild boasts affordable makeup, and this product is no exception! At full price, the lipsticks are $5.49 each. Very frequently, you can find their products on sale on their website, Ulta, Target, Walmart, and other drugstores as well, so anticipate spending under $5 for a lipstick that I personally think is well worth it!

New at Ulta | December 23, 2019 – January 12, 2020

Hello friends!

I know I just posted one of these – but there were so many amazing new releases that I had to share this one as well!

The drugstore has really been knocking it out of the park with releases lately!  I have a ton of different lipsticks, concealers & foundations that looked interesting. Lipsticks in general this time around really drew me in – plus, as always, I love a good eyeshadow palette!

Monthly Makeup Basket | November 2019

Hello friends!

Today’s post is a pretty quick and easy one – I wanted to share what’s in my basket for November that I’ve been playing with!  There has been basically no change at all except for a new concealer.

If you would like to see my current impressions of the products pictured above, make sure you check out my October basket – I don’t want to be repeating myself since there isn’t a whole lot to update on.

New Additions:

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Concealer: First of all, wow, what a long name! When I swatched this on the back of my hand I was concerned that the color wouldn’t match me well, but I wanted to throw it on my eyes quickly and see what I thought, and I’m already so pumped to keep testing! It’s everything that I wanted in a concealer that I wasn’t able to get from the IT Cosmetics one.  I’m very excited to share with you all my final thoughts!

Are you trying any new makeup this month?

Monthly Makeup Basket | October 2019

Hello friends!

Today I wanted to share the products that I’ll be playing with in October and (hopefully!) getting a review out on them soon.  Let me know if you’re especially curious about anything you see and I’ll try to prioritize getting a review out on them!

Base:

Make Up For Ever Step 1 Smoothing Primer: I haven’t had much testing time with this primer, but the fact that it’s supposed to help minimize the look of pores is definitely something I’m interested in trying!

Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation: I’ve heard decent things about this foundation & I’ve gotten the chance to wear it a few times, but it’s been a while since I’ve really worn a full face so I want to see what I think for sure.

Where Are They Now? | Makeup I Reviewed Between April and June 2019

Hello friends!

I’m back to share a roundup of where the products I reviewed this quarter have gone!  I ended up testing quite a few different products, so I thought getting a quick glance at my thoughts would be beneficial to you all!

A category that I wanted to add starting this quarter is “wouldn’t repurchase”.  Since I’m expanding my reviews to cover more makeup products than just lip, I thought that this was a necessary section!  It’s what I would consider the “it was okay” stuff – it wasn’t so bad that I would immediately declutter it, but I wouldn’t buy it again when I run out.  So, if a product is in this category you’ll probably end up seeing it in my empties posts down the road! I don’t want to waste products by getting rid of them if they aren’t perfect, but I don’t want to mislead anyone by making you think I loved the product when I didn’t!

I do also want to say that lip products are a little different than anything else on this list.  I try to hold them to higher standards and I own so many that I just consider keeping them to be the other makeup equivalent to “wouldn’t repurchase”.  I just have such a love affair of trying new lip products constantly that I’m not sure I would ever use one up, let alone need to buy a replacement!  I do want to be clear though – if it’s staying in my collection, it’s something that I think is a good product.

Wet n’ Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit High-Shine Lipstick “Send Nudes” | Review

Hello friends!

A while ago, Wet n’ Wild launched their liquid catsuit matte liquid lipsticks, and they seemed to be extremely successful!  Since the trend now is moving back towards glossy lips, they expanded the line to include this new “liquified lipstick” formula.

Color: Send Nudes is a warm, light-medium nude with peachy undertones.  It’s definitely on the lighter side, but it’s not as pale as some other peach nudes on the market.

Finish: The finish of this lipstick is, as you would assume, shiny like a lip gloss.  It’s not as sheer as you would expect for the shine, so it looks a bit creamy as well.

Packaging: I really enjoy the packaging of this lipstick!  It’s a shorter, stumpier tube than a traditional liquid lipstick.  It’s the same packaging as their matte liquid lips, but instead of a black cap, it’s white!

Something important to note was that I had such a hard time getting this open the first time!  I honestly thought that I got a defective one because it was so difficult, but after walking away and then trying again I did get it.  After I got it open the first time, I haven’t had any other issues.
