Tarte SEA Quench Lip Rescue Balm “Nude” | Review

Hello friends!

I need to preemptively start this review by saying I cannot believe I waited so long to review this product, because I’m kind of love it! I got it in a Sephora lip kit a few years ago, which really is the story for a lot of different products I review.

Color: There is very little pigment to this product with it being a balm, but it does have a very soft pinky nude tint to it. On my lips it really doesn’t have any sort of color.

Finish: Again, with this being a balm, the finish is just shiny and a little creamy if you apply a thicker layer.

Packaging: The packaging of this product is absolutely amazing and my vibe! It looks kind of like Lilly Pulitzer, which is an inspiration brand for me. The packaging is coated cardboard with plastic underneath. It has a midtone pink base and lighter pink shells scattered throughout. Some of the shells are accented in gold. When you pull the cap off, the tube the lipstick sits in is a shiny gold. The thing I really love about this one is that each shade has a different color/pattern!

Applicator: The shape of this bullet is just round; the actual formula is also very soft.

Application: Being a balm and a nude, application is basically foolproof. This is one product I feel completely comfortable applying without a mirror or looking because it’s so sheer. The round shape doesn’t make it easier or harder to apply.

There is a minty scent that dissipates quickly. I was concerned that applying this in the winter time would feel really cold, but it really hasn’t made any difference.

Transfer: With this just being a balm, there is essentially nothing to keep it from transferring, so anywhere my lips touched, the balm went. The side of my coffee cup had essentially all of the pigment come off onto it immediately. The same goes for any food I ate.

Fading: It’s honestly difficult to identify any sort of fading simply because the color is so sheer on me, that I can’t tell where it is even when freshly applied. I rely on the shine it gives my lips, which does last for a little bit. I’d say if you’re actively doing something (drinking, talking, eating, etc) that you’ll be reapplying every hour if you want to keep it on and visible. If you’re just looking for a quick hit of moisture, one application and calling it there is plenty, and it’ll fade away gracefully so you don’t need to continue checking up on it.

Comfort: The big winning aspect of this formula is unsurprisingly its comfort. It’s incredibly soft and feels really comforting on the lips. While I wouldn’t say this is a balm I’d use for super dry lip days, it is perfect when you just want something to throw on and not think about. It certainly doesn’t dry out my lips.

Overall: While this isn’t my new holy grail lip balm, the packaging and feel of the product does make it special and something I want to reach for often, especially since it is currently winter. I wouldn’t pay full price for it, but if Tarte came out with a set of them at a discounted price, I’d consider picking it up! Honestly, it’s the packaging that really elevates this product for me.

Price Point: If you want to try this yourself, you can find it at Sephora or Tarte’s website for $19. I do enjoy this formula, but I think it’s more worth it to find on sale or in a kit, like how I got it.

New at Ulta | December 23, 2019 – January 12, 2020

Hello friends!

I know I just posted one of these – but there were so many amazing new releases that I had to share this one as well!

The drugstore has really been knocking it out of the park with releases lately!  I have a ton of different lipsticks, concealers & foundations that looked interesting. Lipsticks in general this time around really drew me in – plus, as always, I love a good eyeshadow palette!

New at Ulta | September 2 – September 29, 2019

Hello friends!

It looks like Holiday season is now upon us!  I had a real love for the new eyeshadow palettes this time around – 6 of the new items are palettes!  Additionally, I’m really loving the little kits that come out and had quite a few on this list.  I just feel like kits are an amazing way to try a lot of different products/colors at a much more affordable price – plus, I have too much makeup to ever go through, so the smaller products make me feel like there’s a chance of finishing them!

New at Ulta | August 5 – September 1, 2019

Hello friends!

I’m back with yet another New at Ulta, and this month was pretty exciting!  New brands were introduced, as well as awesome new products!

I’m especially excited for all the new collections being released; like Beauty Bakerie, Tarte, and Too Faced!  Plus anytime Colourpop can be purchased at Ulta makes it even more awesome, since basically half of my makeup is Colourpop.

As usual, there’s a ton of eyeshadow palettes that peaked my attention; surprisingly, I seem to have also been drawn in by concealers and setting sprays!

Where Are They Now? | Makeup I Reviewed Between April and June 2019

Hello friends!

I’m back to share a roundup of where the products I reviewed this quarter have gone!  I ended up testing quite a few different products, so I thought getting a quick glance at my thoughts would be beneficial to you all!

A category that I wanted to add starting this quarter is “wouldn’t repurchase”.  Since I’m expanding my reviews to cover more makeup products than just lip, I thought that this was a necessary section!  It’s what I would consider the “it was okay” stuff – it wasn’t so bad that I would immediately declutter it, but I wouldn’t buy it again when I run out.  So, if a product is in this category you’ll probably end up seeing it in my empties posts down the road! I don’t want to waste products by getting rid of them if they aren’t perfect, but I don’t want to mislead anyone by making you think I loved the product when I didn’t!

I do also want to say that lip products are a little different than anything else on this list.  I try to hold them to higher standards and I own so many that I just consider keeping them to be the other makeup equivalent to “wouldn’t repurchase”.  I just have such a love affair of trying new lip products constantly that I’m not sure I would ever use one up, let alone need to buy a replacement!  I do want to be clear though – if it’s staying in my collection, it’s something that I think is a good product.

New At Ulta | June 10 – July 14, 2019

Hello friends!

Last month was looking a little weak in terms of new beauty releases, but this month is jam packed with them!  There’s a ton of beautiful new eyeshadow palettes, and some awesome mini sets of products I want to try.  Out of everything on this list, I’ve already picked up one of the mini Mac setting sprays, but I got the watermelon scent.

A lot of the makeup on this list is from Makeup Revolution/Revolution Pro/Revolution Skincare; how many brands can they have?! Additionally, Tarte has a few intriguing products on my list.

Tarte Sugar Rush Sugar Coat Velvet Liquid Lipstick “Cupcake” | Review

Hello friends!

This year, Tarte has come out with a sister brand called Sugar Rush, which appears to be for a younger audience.  The prices are cheaper, and the packaging is a lot more fun and childish-looking compared to a lot of their normal products (depending on which specific collection you look at!).

Color: Cupcake is a my lips but better shade! It’s a medium mauve color with slight warm undertones that look just a touch orange on me.  The color is mostly brown.

Finish: True to it’s name, the finish of this is definitely a velvety matte.  It doesn’t look like a traditional matte lipstick finish, but there’s not any shine to it.

Packaging: I really love the packaging of this!  The entire tube is a soft material that feels slightly NARS-ish, but the color matches the lipstick shade and product information is printed directly on it. It’s very basic otherwise, and the logo is black with that cute diamond symbol that signifies the Sugar Rush collection.  The top of the lid has a golden diamond.

New at Ulta | February 16 – March 2, 2019

Hello friends!

Today I thought it would be fun to share some new products from Ulta that have caught my eye in the past few weeks!  I can’t share everything because I swear they come out with new products every day, but I have been taking a look at their new arrivals and seeing what I would consider buying.  I can’t afford everything on this list (that would be quite a bit!), but since they’ve intrigued me, I’m hoping that they’ll be interesting to you too!

This is something I want to start doing every few weeks, because there are so many new beauty releases now that it’s hard to keep up!  Hopefully this helps you all with seeing some new stuff to check out.
