NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment “American Woman” | Review

Hello friends!

I’ll be honest, as much as I enjoyed reviewing the past few products, I’m so happy to be back to liquid lipsticks! Even though they’ve lost popularity in the mainstream, I still have a ton of love for them. I’ve never had issues with most of them feeling too dry, and they’re so easy for me to wear and forget about!

Color: American Woman is described on the Sephora website as a chestnut rose, which is very accurate! It has a lot of pink in it, but I still get a distinct peach to it as well, which I think comes from the chestnut part. It’s another color in the same family as MAC’s Velvet Teddy & Pat McGrath’s Omi.

Finish: Unsurprisingly with a name like “power matte”, this lipstick goes on thin and shiny but dries down to a completely flat matte.

Packaging: Even though this is a mini, the packaging is the exact same between mini and full size. It’s a rectangular acrylic tube with a small clear window on each side. Everything else is a matte black, but not their usual soft touch packaging. The lid has NARS listed across the top, with one letter on each side.

Applicator: The applicator is so unique! I don’t believe I’ve seen anything like it. Instead of a usual fluffy doefoot or paddle, it’s a small soft applicator that is thin and pointed.

New at Ulta | January 13 – February 2, 2020

Hello friends!

I’m back once again with some of the standout products from Ulta recently!

Of course the brand new ABH palette drew my attention because it’s beautiful, but there were a lot of Colourpop palettes released as well! It also looks like Ulta is getting some products that have been out for a while, like the Persona Cosmetics glosses and Colourpop Just a Tint Lip Crayons.

New at Ulta | July 15 – August 4, 2019

Hello friends!

Once again, we’re here to talk about the new beauty at Ulta that’s caught my attention!  Unfortunately this is another month where there wasn’t a ton that really looked interesting to me, but we do have a lot of eyeshadow palettes and listicks!

Also super exciting – Nabla Cosmetics is now being carried at Ulta!  I added a couple of products that sounded really interesting to my list from them, especially because I’ve heard so many good things about their eyeshadows.

Where Are They Now? | Makeup I Reviewed Between April and June 2019

Hello friends!

I’m back to share a roundup of where the products I reviewed this quarter have gone!  I ended up testing quite a few different products, so I thought getting a quick glance at my thoughts would be beneficial to you all!

A category that I wanted to add starting this quarter is “wouldn’t repurchase”.  Since I’m expanding my reviews to cover more makeup products than just lip, I thought that this was a necessary section!  It’s what I would consider the “it was okay” stuff – it wasn’t so bad that I would immediately declutter it, but I wouldn’t buy it again when I run out.  So, if a product is in this category you’ll probably end up seeing it in my empties posts down the road! I don’t want to waste products by getting rid of them if they aren’t perfect, but I don’t want to mislead anyone by making you think I loved the product when I didn’t!

I do also want to say that lip products are a little different than anything else on this list.  I try to hold them to higher standards and I own so many that I just consider keeping them to be the other makeup equivalent to “wouldn’t repurchase”.  I just have such a love affair of trying new lip products constantly that I’m not sure I would ever use one up, let alone need to buy a replacement!  I do want to be clear though – if it’s staying in my collection, it’s something that I think is a good product.

NARS Satin Lip Pencil “Rikugien” | Review

Hello friends!

When I was first getting into makeup, I basically purchased everything that was in a mini kit, which included this Sephora birthday gift from 2015!  In an effort to find out if all this random makeup I bought was worth it, I decided to give this color a shot!

Color: Rikugien is described on Sephora as a “rose pink”.  I think that’s pretty close – although to me rose makes it sound a little more nude than what this color is.  I’d say this is a more light, “spring” pink.

Finish: There’s not a lot of pigment to the actual lip product, so on my lips it looks like it’s just a slightly shiny gloss.  There’s a definite metallic appearance as well, so I would consider the finish of this product a hybrid of a gloss and a metallic lip.

When I think of satin, I personally think of something that’s almost matte, but not quite.  This formula’s finish is definitely not that, so buyer beware if you’re looking for something almost-matte instead of shiny.

New at Ulta | February 16 – March 2, 2019

Hello friends!

Today I thought it would be fun to share some new products from Ulta that have caught my eye in the past few weeks!  I can’t share everything because I swear they come out with new products every day, but I have been taking a look at their new arrivals and seeing what I would consider buying.  I can’t afford everything on this list (that would be quite a bit!), but since they’ve intrigued me, I’m hoping that they’ll be interesting to you too!

This is something I want to start doing every few weeks, because there are so many new beauty releases now that it’s hard to keep up!  Hopefully this helps you all with seeing some new stuff to check out.
