Books I’ve Read Recently #3

Hello friends!

I’ve finally made it out of the busiest time of my life and so I’m now back to getting stuff done!  Today I’m sharing another iteration of the books I’ve read recently; these were read between June and July.

A ton of these books were on my 2018 GoodReads winners list, so I’m stoked to have them crossed off.  I’ve also found a few new favorites of my own this time around; read on to find out what!

Books I’ve Read Recently #2

Hello friends!

I’m finally back with my long overdue recent books post!  Between March and June, I did a terrible job at doing any sort of reading, and I’m currently very behind in my book goals. Still, life has been super exciting and so I can’t be mad about missing out a little on reading!  However, I’m going to make it a bigger priority moving forward because I love to do it and I have so many books to read still and move off of my shelf.

The Perfect Subscriber Tag

Hello friends!

I know this tag is basically exclusively done on YouTube, but even though I don’t post YouTube videos (yet), I still thought this would be fun to share since I’ve been an avid watcher for so many years!

1. Do you subscribe right away when you find a new channel/video? Or try a few videos first?

It depends on how much time I have!  If I have an hour to kill, I’ll probably watch a few videos before subscribing, and if it’s on a playlist like my “declutters to watch”, I’m watching just one video and moving on.  If I don’t have much time, I’ll subscribe and then add the videos that pop up in my subscription feed to my watch later list; from there, if I don’t like them I’ll just unsubscribe again.

2. Does the “make sure you subscribe” mantra ever sway you to subscribe?

Unfortunately, no!  I rarely go outside of my subscription feed anymore (not enough time), so I’m obviously already subscribed to them, and I just don’t have the time to sort through push notifications.

3. How many channels do you have the notification bell turned on for?

None.  I try to be pretty diligent on paying attention to the people I subscribe to, so I notice when I’m not seeing their videos. If I feel like I have less videos than normal in my feed, I’ll usually go to their page specifically to make sure I’ve watched all the recent videos.

4. Do you watch every video from your subscription feed, or only your favorites?

Usually everything!  Unless it’s a video that I’m really not interested in, they all go to my watch later playlist to be watched when I have time.

Books I’ve Read Recently #1

Hello friends!

I’ve decided that instead of doing a monthly wrap up or TBR, I would rather just share my thoughts on the books I’ve read as I finish them, especially because I have spurts of reading a lot and then not reading at all, and so some months may have 1 book read while others have 5.  This will just help balance everything a little better!

The books for this post are from the beginning of the year until the end of February.

19 Books I Want to Read in 2019

Hello friends!

Every year I make it a point to pick out some things I want to do, books I want to read, shows I want to watch, etc. Today, I wanted to share the 19 books that  I plan on reading this year!

A few of them are rereads that I’ve been wanting to do for a while, while some are from authors that I enjoyed and want to check more out from.  A lot of them are books that I’ve heard so much about in the book community that I want to finally read!  I’ve been on GoodReads for almost 5 years now, and some books on this list have been on my TBR for just as long – that’s wild.

My Favorite Reads of 2018

Hello friends!

Today I wanted to share all of my five star reads from 2018! This year, I read almost 50 books, which is more than any other year that I can remember.  This was largely because I graduated college, meaning I had more time to read in general.  Plus, I wanted to make it a point this year since I’ve always loved books!

The list isn’t in the order of my favorites, just by the dates that I read them.

Saga Volumes 1-3 by Brian Vaughn

Hello friends!

I’ve heard about Saga for a while now, and decided that now was as good a time as ever to pick them up. Wow, do I regret waiting this long to read them!

This review is going to be of the first three volumes released.  This means that volumes two and three may contain spoilers pertaining to the book before them.  I will have a general review, but will note when spoilers will begin as I break down each novel. I won’t go into super great detail to keep some things a surprise, but just be aware that reading the summaries of the separate novels may spoil the ends of others!

Warning: These graphic novels contain nudity, sex, violence, and gore.  If you are sensitive to any of these, this may not be the series for you.  Reader discretion is advised!

The Grownup by Gillian Flynn

Hello friends!  I’ve been bad about reading lately, but I’m slowly getting into picking up more books.  This one has broken quite a slump, so hurray for that!

I’ve never read a Gillian Flynn book before (shockingly!), so when I saw that my library had this available to listen to on audiobook and I had a long day at work ahead of me, I decided to pick it up.  I grabbed it due to a YouTuber recommendation, and so knew basically nothing going into it.

This review is going to be spoiler-free.  I don’t want to give away what happens, as that is the entire point of this short story!  Now, let’s get into my thoughts.

The Safe Word by Karen Long

Hello, friends!  It’s been a while, hasn’t it?  I’ve been working on trying to find balance in my life with a new full time job and what I want to do now that I’m done with school, but I’m ready to dive headfirst back into this!

This is going to be a spoiler-FREE review of The Safe Word by Karen Long, which is the first novel in the DI Eleanor Raven series.  I’m trying to read my MASSIVE backlog of books from when I first got on Netgalley and requested pretty much everything, and this is one of the lucky winners that was on my Spookathon TBR.

August TBR

Hello friends!  I am back to tell you all about the books I plan to read in August.

August is definitely the month of NetGalley. I have 3 ARC’s I want to read that release this month, which is super exciting!

I also didn’t finish 5 books in July, which means they’re being moved forward to this month.  Here’s July’s TBR in case you were curious, as I’m not going to say much about them this month!
